ºÚÁÏÉç Weather Alert: Campus Open; Telecommuting and Liberal Leave Encouraged

ºÚÁÏÉç continues to monitor winter weather and local travel conditions today, Tuesday, March 14, and expects to remain open and operational. The College makes weather-related decisions based on the most up-to-date national weather service data and forecasting, as well as in consultation with Syracuse University (SU) officials, SU’s independent meteorologist, ºÚÁÏÉç University Police, and the ºÚÁÏÉç grounds/snow removal crews.

Although ºÚÁÏÉç rarely cancels classes for inclement weather, individuals must make decisions based on a risk assessment related to travel. Employees are encouraged to take precautions and use good judgment when traveling to and from work. Faculty and staff concerned about their safety should contact their department chair or supervisor, respectively.

ºÚÁÏÉç is encouraging telecommuting for non-essential employees who can complete their full professional obligation remotely during their normal working hours. ºÚÁÏÉç is also implementing liberal leave for employees who are performing non-immediate, non-essential functions, to take time off by using vacation, holiday, or personal paid time off accruals. Both require supervisory approval.

Essential employees — including those who are responsible for clearing and removing snow, and ensuring public safety — are still required to report to their scheduled shifts. Anyone concerned about their safety should contact their supervisor.

Any change in ºÚÁÏÉç's operating status will be announced with the notice ºÚÁÏÉç WEATHER ALERT through the following channels:
